It was the summer of '69

My sister and I were yakking away on our most recent early morning phone conversation, talking about e-mails from our Sainted Southern Mother and why Jill was currently chilling out to classic R&B on Pandora.

Jill: Mama sent me a link to find the number-one song in the country the week you were born. Mine was "Killing Me Softly" by Rebecca Frack. So I created a new station.

Me: Rebecca Frack?

Jill: Roberta Flack. What did I say?

Me: You totally said Rebecca Frack.

And we laughed and laughed and talked for a long time about how freaking awesome music from that genre still is.

Then I decided to find out which was the number-one song in the country the week I was born.

Jill for the cool points and the win.

Lulu capped her five-week domination of the pop charts with To Sir With Love the week I was born. If I'd only been two weeks later, I could have been a Daydream Believer.
